As part of the "Promotion of Adult Education in Asia" project implemented by DVV International in Sughd region in partnership with the public organization «Saodat», a delegation of representatives of the Bavarian Association of National Universities visited Sughd region on April 28, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the adult education system in the northern regions of the country, development of professional exchange and strengthening international cooperation.
Upon arrival in Khujand, the guests were greeted by employees of DVV International in Tajikistan and PO "Saodat". The first part of the program began with a visit to the cultural center "House of Pilaf", where the delegation members tasted traditional Khujand pilaf, a symbol of Tajik hospitality and culinary heritage.
Next, a delegation of representatives of the Bavarian Association of National Universities went to a meeting with the leadership and students of the Goethe German Gymnasium in Khujand. During the meeting, the students demonstrated a high level of German language proficiency, expressed interest in studying German culture and talked about their educational activities. The representatives of the delegation noted the professionalism of the teachers and the high educational level of the institution.
The next point of the visit was to get acquainted with the professional education system in Tajikistan using the example of the Guliston Medical College. The delegation held a meeting with the director and teachers of the college, during which educational methods, the development of professional skills, as well as issues of involving rural girls in the process of obtaining secondary specialized education were discussed.
A key element of the visit was an attendance to the Local Community Education Center in Gulistan. Within the framework of the meeting, representatives of the LCEC held a presentation of the center's activities aimed at increasing adult access to educational and professional programs, including life skills and community development. Particular attention was paid to employment issues, the development of local initiatives and the integration of vulnerable groups. Successful practices of interaction of the LCEC with local authorities, the public and the public organization "Saodat" were also presented.
During the visit, the delegation members also visited the iconic historical and cultural sites of the city of Khujand. The guests visited the «Kalai Khujand» fortress, an important monument of architecture and history of the region, and also visited the Panchshanbe central market, where they could get acquainted with handicrafts, trade traditions and the daily life of local residents.
The visit helped strengthen cultural and professional bond between the two countries, inspired participants to take new initiatives, and emphasized the importance of continuing education and international cooperation
